Moosas Group is searching for experienced individuals to fulfil the position of Code 14 Drivers. A valid South African Code 14 driver’s licence that permits the operation of vehicles exceeding 16,000 kg is mandatory and will secure consideration. This qualification is essential for roles involving the transportation of heavy goods and materials.

Minimum Requirements

  • Code EC driver’s license with a valid PrDP.
  • Prepared to work overtime, nightshifts, weekends and public holidays
  • Medically Fit (accredited medical certificate)
  • No Criminal Record
  • Minimum 3-year experience driving an Ultra heavy vehicle.
  • Minimum 3-year experience driving a Superlink/Interlink/combination optional.
  • Defensive driving techniques.
  • Experience in Reporting procedure of emergencies and defects.
  • Experience in Vehicle inspections and operating a fire extinguisher.
  • Experience in Maximizing vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Experience Vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
  • Must have own reliable transport or transport arrangements to and from work.

  • Driving and Vehicle Operations
    Transport Goods = Safely operate heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks with trailers, tankers or specialized equipment to deliver goods.
    Adherence to Traffic Regulations: Follow all road safety and traffic laws to ensure compliance with the Road Traffic Act.
    Manual and Automatic Gear Operation: Proficiently handle manual or automatic transmission vehicles.

  • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
    Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily vehicle checks, including tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels, to ensure roadworthiness.
    Reporting Faults: Identify and report vehicle issues promptly to the supervisor or mechanic team.
    Basic Repairs: Perform minor on-the-spot repairs when necessary.

  • Loading and Unloading
    Load Management: Safely load and secure goods to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
    Off-Loading Assistance: Help with unloading goods at the destination or supervise off-loading by others.
    Compliance with Weight Regulations: Ensure the vehicle is not overloaded and meets legal weight limits.

  • Documentation and Administration
    Logbook Maintenance: Accurately record information, mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance.
    Delivery Documentation: Handle delivery notes ensuring all paperwork is signed and handed in correctly.
    Incident Reports: Complete reports for any accidents, damages, or delays encountered during trips.

    Client Interaction: Represent the company professionally when dealing with clients, ensuring excellent customer service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Loading and Off-loading: Manage the loading and unloading of various materials and equipment, ensuring loads are correctly fastened and not overloaded. Ensure correct loading and securing of cargo, adhering to safety and legal standards.

  • Documentation: Handle delivery documentation, including delivery notes and invoices, and maintain accurate records.

  • Customer Interaction: Maintain excellent client relationships and present a professional image.

  • Reporting: reporting of all incidents, accidents, damages, shortages and anything out of the normal operating procedures or protocols.

  • Compliance: Adhere to the Road Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and company policies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
  • Licensing: Valid, unendorsed Code 14 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
  • Experience: At least 3 years of driving experience with heavy vehicles, including experience with manual gearboxes.
  • Skills: Effective communication, time management, problem-solving abilities, and a customer service orientation.
